Valley City Vipers

Players age 3+ in Valley City begin their hockey journey as VC Vipers, playing at the Termite, Mite & Squirt levels. All teams practice at the Youth Sports Complex indoor rink at 940 Central Ave N (next to Hanna Field & Jefferson Elementary School). All VC Viper Hockey teams are open to Boys and Girls. Ice is typically in for camps, team tryouts and Try Hockey events by October 1. The hockey season runs November - March, and we work to offer additional ice time after the season as the weather allows. Practice & game schedules will be available in the Crossbar mobile app (for registered players) and on our website when set for the season. Additional details on each level are available below.

USA Hockey registration is required annually for all players. If you have not already done so, you will be prompted to register & provide your player's USAH Confirmation number during registration. View 2025-26 USA Hockey Fees ($15 ND Affiliate Fee added for ages 7+)

First year players can register for our Try Hockey for Free event and/or register for the full season at a discounted rate to see if hockey is for them! New players also qualify for free equipment rentals (while supplies last). All new players will start practice with our Termites group and coaches will place skaters with the appropriate level. Our youngest skaters! Players (typically ages 3 - 1st Grade) to learn to skate and learn the basics of hockey. Parents can expect 2 practices per week, 2-3 travel games / Jamborees per season, and one home Jamboree here in Valley City. Games are half-ice and no score is kept. Rental gear is available to check out for the season during Try Hockey weeks.

This level (typically grades 2 & 3) focuses on learning to PLAY hockey. Parents can expect 2-3 practices per week, 5-6 travel games/Jamborees per season and one HOME Jamboree. Games are half-ice and no score is kept.

This level (typically grades 4 & 5) offers the first experience with full-ice hockey, featuring scored games with officials and competitive tournaments. Parents can expect 3 practices per week, 20+ games and 2-3 tournaments per season.

All VC Vipers receive game jerseys which should only be worn for games only and must be returned at the end of the season. Game socks are available for purchase at the concession stand for $20.00/pair. Red & White game socks are required at the Squirt level.

Valley City Hockey provides rental gear for players! The majority of our gear is sized for youth small to medium players and includes helmet, all pads and a practice jersey. We do have a selection of used skates and sticks that can be used, but we find many families choose buy these items for their child's specific size.
